15 to 30 days before your move

____Eliminate everything you don¹t want to move.
____Prepare an inventory of everything you plan to have moved.
____Notify the post office of your change of address.
____Make arrangements for medical or dental records.
____Inquire about auto licensing and insurance if moving out of state.
____Notify your children's school and make arrangements for records.
____Obtain any veterinarian records, if necessary.

8 to 14 days before your move

____Return anything you have borrowed and collect things you have lent.
____Transfer bank accounts and safety deposit items, if necessary.
____Arrange to disconnect utility services.
____Arrange to connect utilities at your new residence.
____Arrange to have appliances serviced for your move.

2 to 7 days before your move.

____Dispose of all flammables
____Plan articles that you will take with you in car, including toys and games for children.
____Pack suitcases with clothing and personal items you will need the first day in new residence.
____In a special box, pack items you will need the first few hours in new residence.
____Make special cartons labeled "Do Not Move" for items not being moved.
____Return any local cable equipment.
